In France since 2004. Born in 1992.
One half sister. Mother: works in a beauty parlor.
I was born in Hong Kong. As my mother worked a lot in her little business her cousin and her husband took care of me when I was 3 months old. They were like real parents to me… I had brothers and sisters… a real family. I saw my mother 3 or 4 times a year. Afterwards my then future stepfather and mother started for France… I joined them two years later, I was 12… that was in 2004. Suddenly I had to change my situation. I didn’t want to leave my friends, my family. Everything was alright.
When I started school they put me in a special reception class… I hardly knew how to say good day, see you and thank you. A catastrophe… in the fourth grade my notes were an average of 12 out of 20. I like school. My friends at school are mainly French and outside of school most of my friends are Chinese.
Life in France is quiet, I don’t know if I ever want to live in Hong Kong. It is good for people to move to another country to study… to get to know a country you have to live there, discover its culture… it isn’t a postcard. In don’t feel really integrated… united, perhaps because of my way of speaking French…
There is always a wall between the French and Chinese culture. The customs are different. In Hing Kong the world goes fast, there is no waste of time. In France people walk more slowly, they don’t seem to be in a hurry. They don’t have the same look in their eyes… It’s quiet here… In Hong Kong you have to be perfect.
