Joselure

  • My name is José Luis Revuelta. I was born in Bilbao in 1961.

Since 1976 I have practise photography in a self-taught manner. From 2013 onwards, with the birth of the Centre of Contemporary Photograhy in Bilbao (CFC Bilbao), I have learned thanks to Ricky Dávila, Alberto García-Alíx, Eduardo Momeñe, Cristobal Hara, Gonzalo Azumendi, Jorge Flores, Mikel Alonso, Pablo Juliá, Tiago Da Cruz, Antón Goirí, Juan Valbuena, José Ramón Bás, Nacho Gabrielli, Vicente Paredes, Ricardo Cases, José Manuel Navia, Antonio M. Xoubanova, Aleix Plademunt, David Jimenez, Lurdes Basolí, Chema Conesa, Peyo Álvarez... they were my teachers at different courses and workshops. Besides, Vari Caramés, Carlos Canal, Jon Cazenave, Paco Gómez, Juanan Requena, Piko Zulueta, Ixone Sadaba, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto, Roger Guaus, Imanol Marrodán... and so many others whom I own a lot, specially their generosity, patience and attention.

Photography has given me the chance to step out of my own “confort zone”, which, as an arquitecture designer, I have occupied for longer than 30 years doing photography work for firms, mainly corporative portraits and events in the fields of arts and culture.

I’m working on different personal projects at the same time, however, even being very different to each other, the possibility of taking portraits is the origin of all of them. And this is so because time has taught me that the searching of oneself is only posible when looking into the reflection of our models faces. The mirrors we leave behind when we withdraw so as to let others look too. Pure magic. The gift that photography gives to us.
