Ephemeral

  • Efimeros (Ephemerals) is a reflection about the trip of humans on Earth. A reflection focused overall in the relations between human beings during their learning process and in the consequences of contemporary ways of life that lead to isolation, solitude, anonymity and, basically, to a pursuit of happiness based on ignorance and oblivion.

Efimeros is a reflection through the questions raised by the pictures. Do we know how we are? Where are we going? What is our purpose in life?

This project tries to introduce the spectator in an almost empty space. A space of lights, shadows and silence, barely real. A space without distractions or noises with the intention to make us meditate and try helping our thoughts. In these pictures we will see a blurred and diluted individual in transit —alone or in a group—, who wanders around the world as an automated spectrum with a preselected direction and destiny.

In his comes and goes around the Earth, human beings should manage to, through their experiences, to break away with their ignorance and their fears. The environment of this individual and the space where h/she lives is conditioned by his/her thoughts, and it affects to his/her individual and social evolution. This way, our idea of the planet is a consequence of the relation -ephemeral in most of the cases- between the individuals and the places where they live.

There is something that will make us establish a parallelism between the transit of human beings in Earth with the no-places of Augé.
