In a silent way

  • In a silent way... a good way to capture photographic moments is to do it silently, as an unseen observer; to record fortuitous scenes that show the predictable, surprising and strange aspects of a city such as this.

This isn´t a manner of making a portrait of Tokyo - "solo" an amazing scene – it is more about seeing oneself in it. In a silent way, the great contradiction between the loneliness and crowdedness of Tokyo is born; and if images could be heard, they would sound like Miles Davis...........

It is a way to take photographs and understand photography. Appearances are intervened to reach the truth of the photographer. One doesn´t need to ask a lot of questions or to investigate too much. Perhaps one doesn´t have any use for a map of the streets, even.

Tokyo is the shelter for our narration, always told softly, barely whispers, with nothing to explain, with no wish to convince. Like Atget. That is how I understand the photographs of Antonio in Tokyo.
